Types of processing methods used for Animal Blood Products

• Alsevers: Whole blood with Alsevers solution added as an anti-coagulant and preservative
  
• Defibrinated: Whole blood with fibrin removed and is additive/preservative free.
  
• Citrate: Whole blood with Sodium Citrate added as an anti-coagulant (mixed with a ratio of 1 part Sodium Citrate and 9 parts whole blood).
  
• Serum: Whole blood is centrifuged and the serum is separated.
  
• Plasma: Whole blood with anti-coagulant added and then centrifuged, with the resulting clear plasma removed.
